Bodies Recovered From Delta

The bodies of three males were recovered from the San Joaquin Delta over the weekend, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office and California Highway Patrol. The search for more bodies is planned for today.
Emergency personnel initially responded Sunday to information from an unidentified person who contacted the CHP about 10:30 a.m. The caller said he had been a passenger in an SUV when the driver lost control, sending the SUV down a levee and into the Delta.
The caller said he was able to get out of the vehicle. He did not identify himself and did not wait for law enforcement to arrive. The caller said he was concerned about the other five passengers. He said he and others were headed out fishing when the car went into the water about 5:30 a.m.
A silver 2002 Chevrolet SUV was pulled from the water off Lower Jones Road north of Bacon Island Road on Sunday afternoon. Stockton Fire Department divers found no bodies in the vehicle at that time.
The CHP later reported a sheriff's marine boat patrol recovered one body near sunset Sunday. Monday afternoon, two more bodies were spotted and pulled from the water.
