Special funding received from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) through the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) New Freedom Program, the city of Rio Vista, through Rio Vista Delta Breeze has implemented Route 54 - Delta Shuttle on Wednesdays. This service is a general public door to door dial-a-ride service that serves the entire destination city limits for shopping, medical and recreation trips. The bus will depart Rio Vista and Isleton area at 9:30 a.m. and arrive at the destination city by 10:30 a.m. The bus will remain in the destination city taking passengers directly to where they need to go between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
The new Route 54 schedule dates and destinations include:
1st Wednesday -- Fairfield/Suisun City
2nd Wednesday -- Vacaville
3rd Wednesday -- Antioch/Pittsburg
4th Wednesday -- Lodi
5th Wednesday -- Vacaville (occasionally).
The fare is $6 for general passengers, ages 5-54 years old, $3 for discount riders which are seniors 55 years old and older, persons with disabilities and medicare card holders. Each additional stop is 50 cents for discount riders and $1 for basic riders. The bus will return to the Rio Vista/Isleton area by 2:30 p.m.
This new service will provide additional mobility for Rio Vista and Isleton residents wanting to access these cities for shopping, medical appointments, social service needs, recreational opportunities and other quality of life events.
The service operatedits first trip on Jan. 2 and carried 11 passengers between Rio Vista and Fairfield/Suisun City and officials say the service has the potential to become a permanent route.
