The comedy scene in Sacramento has been growing for many years now. I remember when the first comedy club opened in Old Sacramento and my entertainment group began a second comedy club at the Saddlerock just on weekends.
Unfortunately, the operator of the first club was a very petty and inexperienced purveyor of entertainment and put out the word to comics that if they played our club they would never play his. This started the Sacramento comedy scene off on the wrong footing and many of the comics hated working for him.
In spite of comedy's turbulent beginnings, happily it is thriving today.
I had the chance to see one of my favorite acts, Comedic Magic!
John Heienen is one of the professionals you don't want to miss. I caught his act at a Sunday night show at a neighborhood bar near Loehman's Plaza off of Fulton avenue "at the Y".
His partner Alexis was not there that night and I look forward to see the full show as there were many other comics that night sharing the time and John had only around ten minuets to perform.
