ISLETON, CA - The Isleton Police Department is no longer working for the city starting Saturday.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department will be providing Isleton with contractual law enforcement services until June 30, 2013, sheriff's Lt. R.L. Davis said.
In January 2012, the sheriff's department took over law enforcement duties for the city when the police department could not pay for worker's compensation insurance. Later that month, the police department resumed its service to the city.
Controversy arose when an officer was caught having sex with in a patrol unit and another was put on leave after an officer involved shooting.
Davis said deputies will not be solely dedicated to the city and presence within the city will be split between covering areas in southern Sacramento County.
The sheriff's department will take over dispatch responsibility for emergency and non-emergency request services.
