Chris Stevens Legacy...Freedom!
When we honor Ambassador Stevens, and any American who gives their life in the line of duty, we must honor the principles they served for. Free speech and freedom of the press is one ideal and principle they and millions serve to defend.
While those who made the movie may in fact be enemies of America, exercising free speech and making of a hateful film is not what makes them our enemies...it's their intentions, not the freedom of expressing their hatred! Obviously the character of the main filmmaker who was convicted for fraud marks him as a less than honorable person. A conspiracy seems to be "afoot" as to who really was behind the whole disaster, but is there also those who would use this to take away our freedoms even if they offend and cause others to be lawless? We can hear the "drumbeat" already for international laws on offending and blaspheming gods and their prophets. That is not just a slippery slope, it is a cliff where many would love to push our constitution over into the abyss of tyranny.
Americans have sacrificed too many freedoms already to the aim of national security (PATRIOT ACT) and the ever menacing machine of governmental bureaucratic over-regulation and wasting our tax dollars with incredible stupidity and criminality.
We know that more terrorism striking us here at home will cause more and more of our freedoms restricted in the name of....? No American is honored if freedom at home is diminished.
"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" Evelyn Beatrice Hall
When we lose our freedom of speech and press, even hate speech and seditious calls for civil unrest, our tyrants will have been in place and power for much too long.
