The Rio Vista-Isleton Portuguese Club will host its 112th Holy Ghost Festa on Saturday and Sunday.
This longtime Portuguese tradition is a celebration honoring Queen Isabel of Portugal for the generosity and care she showed the poor and hungry.

Festivities will begin at the Portuguese Hall, 295 7th St., in Rio Vista on Saturday with a dance and coronation of the queens. DJ Raf Calvan will host the dance beginning at 9 p.m. The coronation of the queens will begin at 10 p.m. The dance will go until 1 a.m.

Portuguese communities across California honor Queen Isabel and the Holy Spirit each year by hosting a parade filled with queens, flags and banners.

The Rio Vista Isleton Club will host its parade at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. The parade begins at the Portuguese Hall and proceeds to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 130 Fourth St.

A traditional sopas meal will also be offered free to the public during two feedings. The first will start at 11 a.m. Sunday and the last feeding at 5 p.m. on Sunday
The live auction begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday with Joe Gates as auctioneer.
